ROFL at "Even after 19 years we have not come to a consensus on who is bonded and who is labouring. The argument still continues". Belated anniversary wishes. My sis-in-law got married on a hartal day too and various chronicles of the episode have become part of the family lore. So I can imagine, what you went through. It's a lot better nowadays, I think with the haratal-ophiles taking it easy on wedding groups etc. Thank you for commenting on my blog :)

Happy anniversary and many happy returns! You kept me in the dark, my boy! I remember the day when we trekked through the neighbourhood of Trissur to go to the wedding place. Ganga, Naresh and I were the first to land in Trissur on the previous morning at 5. We paid an auto Rs.5 (!) to go to Chembottil Lodge, which Naresh immediately renamed as 'Gum Bottle' Lodge. In the evening we went for a walk on the "Round" when we were confronted by column after column of marchers carrying burning torches. I think the Nazis made a similar march in Munich in 1938. Made a hasty retreat to "Gum Bottle" and the next morning trekked through the empty streets of Trissur. What an experience, including travelling in a police van!
